Meditation has many benefits. These benefits have been documented through the centuries by yogis, monks, seekers, and more recently by scientists. Benefits of meditation can include reduced stress, better sleep, healthy changes in brain structure, inner peace, and spiritual awakening. Over this six-week course, we will explore some of the main tenets of mindfulness-based meditation. By experimenting with various meditation practices, this course will help you develop a home practice that suits your own style and schedule. This course can also provide a deeper exploration for experienced meditators.
During the 6 weeks we will cultivate a community of support for our practice and allow ample time and space for questions and feedback during each class as well as instructor support between classes. We will touch on meditation set-up and mindfulness-based techniques including Concentration, Heart-Centered, and Subtle Body practices. Requirements for this course include a commitment to sitting in meditation 10-15 minutes per day on your own between classes. There will be optional texts that accompany the class.
